Set-Up

Print the word cards (or sentences) you want to use and place them in a pile face down.

Options to choose from:

-54 one-syllable word cards

-27 two-syllable word cards 

-33 sentences 

• Print and cut out 1 page of beehive pieces per student

• Print 1 build a beehive page per student

• 1 die

Directions

1. Have students put their build a beehive page in front of them. Have students lay their pieces (#s 1-6) above their page.

2. Have the student pick a word from the pile and read it (If playing a spelling game, have another player or the teacher/tutor read the word and then have the student spell the word). 

3. Next, the student rolls the die and picks the piece with the corresponding number to add to their beehive. 

4. Play continues like this until a player gets all of their pieces placed in their beehive.
