MINI-LESSONS (mini-lessons for both sounds of vowel team oo)

1. Use the keyword cards to review vowel team oo sounds (moon and foot)

2. Hand out copies of the syllable division practice sheet, or you can use the larger words as a second option (sometimes I like to give students 1 word at a time as to not overwhelm them). 

3. Together, go through the steps of syllable division (use reference sheets provided to syllable divide the keyword).

4. Display keyword poster. 

5. Have students syllable divide the first three words together and then the following two on their own. 

6. Practice is over! Time to play the game.
